I have always had a heart for helping others in one way or another. That coupled with my desire to become an entrepreneur has led me to where I am today. I am an ideologist, which is a fancy name for a strategist or visionary. I love to solve problems and find solutions for difficult situations. I like order and preparing for what the future holds. To get a better understanding of who I am I invite you to read my story below.
Who am I? That is a question that I have asked myself many times over my lifetime. I'm the oldest of seven who grew up in a middle class neighborhood. As the oldest, naturally I had a lot of responsibility fall on my shoulders. The biggest and most challenging being, setting an example for my younger siblings. There were many times I failed, and as a result the impact it left on them resulted in less freedom as they grew older. It took many years to get to a point where I realized that I was more than a sister, daughter, mother and wife. I came to realize my worth as an empath, visionary and entrepreneur as I got to know myself outside of my tribe. However, it still took several years to bring that realization to reality. I tried my hand at entrepreneurship twice before, but realized soon after that I didn't know what I didn't know when it come to launching and starting my own business. It wasn't until I took time out and went back to school that I realized what I had been doing wrong all along when it came to entrepreneurship.
After graduating with dual degrees in Marketing and Database Management (MIS), I re-entered the workforce with renewed awareness, committed to advancing my career within the Architectural, Engineering and Construction markets. In 2009 I was laid off during the most recent economic recession and immediately committed to breaking into the international market. Traveling back and forth between the US and Brazil creating inroads for American firms wanting to break into the Brazilian market as they prepared for the upcoming FIFA and Summer Olympic games, I found my stride and gained a tremendous amount of experience.
In 2013 Brazil began going through its own recession at which time I pulled back and returned to the states. It was at this time that I was approached by several colleagues and friends who had launched their own businesses during the recession and were struggling to grow their business. During the next several years I realized another passion...teaching! I absolutely loved mentoring and coaching these new business owners in how to build a successful business around their product or service offering. I especially enjoyed working with early-stage business owners. Their enthusiasm and joy exudes in everything they do and they are eager to work toward a common goal.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic strengthened my resolve once again, as face-to-face interaction with clients was limited. I engaged in my next milestone for my company which involved establishing an online learning environment for micro and small business owners. This has always been part of the vision since the launching of MarketAtomy, but COVID forced me to kick its implementation into gear sooner than planned. As the saying goes, "when one door closes...another is opened, you just have to walk through."
As I look forward to the future post COVID-19 I am excited about the changes happening. The pandemic threw the world into an altered state, forcing entrepreneurs to step out of their comfort zones and explore other ways of doing business. As an ideologist and strategist, these challenges are what I dream about. Coming out on the other side are my celebrations in life, career and happiness.
